Types of Street Racing

Street racing is an illegal auto racing that takes place in public roads like what you’ve seen in the movie The Fast and The Furious. Everyday, hundreds of accidents happen from all over the world because of illegal street racing activities. Opponents to street racing cite the lack of safety procedures relative to sanctioned racing events, as well as legal repercussions arising from incidents, among street racing's drawbacks. Street racers are not professional racers and not formally trained to race. Aside from lack of training, many speed racers don't use safety gears and equipment.

There are different types of street racing. One of which is drag racing. In drag racing, two or more competitors are involved. They try to outrun the other vehicles by a considerable margin in order to win. If the winner cannot be determined, it is usually decided upon a mutual agreement, or having another race. Another type is the touge racing or drifting. The idea of touge racing came from the Japanese word “touge” which means mountain pass.

There are various factors that motivate street racers to race illegally. Basically, street racing is available to under-age for entertainment. Some races join illegal street racing competitions for the chance to show-off the speed of their new vehicles. Others race to feel the adrenaline rush when driving at peak speed levels.
